Owners of certain Dodge Ram trucks should pay attention to this recall alert. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says Dodge’s parent company Chrysler is recalling certain models of the Ram due to possible failures with their axles.
The recall affects a total of about 275,000 2004 and 2005 Dodge Ram pickup trucks. The NHTSA says it has received 15 complaints thus far about the axles on those affected trucks failing.
Chrysler says the rear axle could seize suddenly and lead the driveshaft to detach, which would increase the risk of a crash.
Affected owners will be contacted by Chrysler by mail and receive instructions on what to do next.
