We’ve already told you about one tire recall announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently; now, the agency is recalling thousands of tires by Continental Tire due to a manufacturing defect.
The NHTSA says thousands of Continental Tire ProContact GX SSR MOE size 225/45R18 95H XL tires were deformed during the curing process. This could lead to the tire tread to appear distorted when inflated, which increases the risk of a crash.
The recalled tires were manufactured between June 22, 2014 and July 28, 2014. They were installed for front axle fitment on 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class vehicles.
The agency says Continental Tire has already notified owners of the tires. Affected owners can bring their vehicle to the tire shop where they bought the tires or Mercedes-Benz dealers, where the tires will be replaced free of charge.
Customers with questions can call the Continental Tire customer service number at 1-888-799-2168.
