It’s here, and it looks beautiful.
Ford unveiled the 2015 Shelby GT350 in a stunning CGI-rendered video released on Monday. We’ve got a look at the confirmed and projected specifications behind this ambitious muscle car.
The 2015 edition of the GT350 Mustang comes as Ford celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first version of the car.
The sleek, mean machine has plenty of power to go with it. Some specifics were not released by Ford, but confirmed specs will have even the most skeptical of muscle car fans ready to test drive the beast.
The biggest eye-opener among the confirmed specs is that the GT350 Mustang will come with a naturally-aspirated 5.2 liter V8 engine and a flat-plane crankshaft. The use of this crankshaft is a first for Ford for cars produced with a V8 engine.
Some standard features confirmed by Ford include a six-speed manual transmission and a Torsen limited slip differential. 19-inch aluminum wheels, a custom set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires and Brembo-brand six-piston brake calipers for the front wheels and four-piston calipers in the rear.
Now, take a deep breath, because the projected characteristics for the monstrous sportscar are incredible:
- “More than 500 horsepower” under the hood;
- A “high-revving” V8 (no official redline numbers are in);
- More than 400 foot-pounds of torque;
We’re sure more precise and detailed specs will be forthcoming, but for now, we can’t wait to hear more about the 2015 Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang.
