Toyo Tire Recall

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for two models and various sizes of Toyo Tires. This marks the third such tire recall issued by the agency in the last month.

We’ve told you about the Continental tire recall, and the Capitol Precision Tire recall issued by the NHTSA in recent weeks. Now, the agency is issuing a recall for two models of Toyo brand tires.

The first recall focuses on Toyo’s OPEN Country H/T Tuff Duty tires. The affected sizes are:

  • LT235/85 R16 120Q
  • LT245/75 R16 120R
  • LT265/75 R16 123Q
  • LT265/70 R17 121R
  • LT225/75 R17 116Q
  • LT235/80 R17 120R
  • LT285/75 R16 126Q

The NHTSA is also recalling Toyo Tires’ Nitto Dura Grappler Highway Terrain Dura-Belt model tires in the following sizes:

  • LT245/75 R17 121Q
  • LT265/70 R17 121Q
  • LT265/75 R16 123Q
  • LT275/65 R18 123Q

The NHTSA says the recall is due to possible tread separation from the belt as a result of stress on the belt edge. This could cause a loss of tire pressure and increase the risk of a crash.

Toyo will notify affected owners of the recalled models and sizes, who can then get the tires replaced at the tire dealer where the bought the tires free of charge.

Owners can also call Toyo Tires Customer Service at 1-800-442-8696.
